To achieve LEED certification, a project earns points by adhering to prerequisites and credits that address carbon, energy, water, waste, transportation, materials, health and indoor environmental quality. Projects go through a verification and review process and are awarded points that correspond to a level of LEED certification:
The Cool Roof Rating Council is an independent, non-bias organization whose mission is to implement and communicate fair, accurate and credible radiative energy performance rating systems for roof surfaces
The Cradle to Cradle Certified® Product Standard provides the framework to assess the safety, circularity and responsibility of materials and products across five categories of sustainability performance: CLEAN AIR & CLIMATE PROTECTION, MATERIAL HEALTH, WATER & SOIL STEWARDSHIP, PRODUCT CIRCULARITY, AND SOCIAL FAIRNESS
The ENERGY STAR program is administered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). EPA sets energy efficiency specifications and those that meet them display the ENERGY STAR logo. In turn, consumers and businesses who want to save energy and money can look for the ENERGY STAR label when making buying decisions.
An environmental product declaration (EPD) transparently reports the life cycle assessment of a product in a single, comprehensive report. The EPD provides information to buyers about a product’s impact on the environment, such as global warming potential, smog creation, ozone depletion and water pollution.
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international, non-governmental organiZation dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world’s forests.
